Attendance
Call the Higley High School Attendance Hotline at 480.279.7311 to report all absences. Students must have a parent or guardian sign them out in order to leave campus early. The attendance line is a 24 hour voicemail, so you may leave a voicemail anytime.
ABSENCES
A parent is expected to report any absence by phone (preferably prior to the absence) to attendance. To excuse an absence, a parent/guardian must call within 24 hours following the absence. All absences not verified by a parent/guardian or authorized by an administrator will remain unexcused. No changes will be made to attendance after 24 hours. Please check ParentVue on a daily basis to ensure all absences are updated. If a student or parent feels the student was marked absent incorrectly, please have the student talk to their teacher about the absence. The teacher will take care of it through the attendance office. All absences excused by a doctor’s note, court paperwork, college visit verification, etc. must be given to the attendance specialist on the student’s first day back to school after that absence.
ALL ABSENCES MUST BE REPORTED WITHIN 24 HOURS.
Late Arrivals/Tardy to School
We encourage parents to assist students with arriving to school on school. Please be aware of traffic issues and plan accordingly. Students who come to class late cause a classroom disruption and disrespect to classmates and teachers. There are two scenarios for tardy students - please follow the following procedures:
Without Doctor/Dentist's note - Students will go the attendance office and receive an unexcused pass to class.
Parents do not need to sign or call in students as the only excused tardy is with a doctor/dentist note. Students more than 10 minutes late to school will be marked absent for that class.
All students must have a parent/guardian come to the office, present photo ID and physically sign the student out. Higley High School does not release students without a parent/guardian present. All students must be signed out in the office to excuse an absence.
Modified Schedule Days: On days such as early release, testing, or assembly days, EVIT students are not excused from their Higley classes unless the parent excuses them. EVIT does not communicate their attendance to us, and they still have classes on our campus that they are to attend.
For the protection of our students, no student will be called to the office to await pick up. Please allow ample time for the sign out procedure.
